Human
Human
Shinobi's Heart
Naruko was awake but at the moment she was still blindfolded since it would have done no good to not be anyways, so she just turned her head in the direction of Alexander as he entered and started talking, recognizing him from the orientation she and several other recruits had went through after maki had finished her evaluations. She didn't say anything however because he was busy talking to the nurses, doctors and then to Ketsu. She didn't sit up due to discomfort and soreness but at least she wasn't bleeding or in any "severe" pain anymore. it was all more like very dull throbbing pulsating aches.

This is where something happened that Naruko, due to not only her shinobi training but also because she had no other choice but to rely on her hearing, caught something Ketsu had done, whether alexander did or not didn't matter to her. in fact even if Alexander caught it and asked about it. Naruko had already resolved to cover for Ketsu on the matter and appease the scientist of the matter, but she tucked it away. He didn't just stutter. As it may have sounded to almost anyone else, he actually was about to say a different name. While she could understand to a degree given the limited information she had gathered from him talking to her thus far, she also knew that it was something that had to be dealt with sooner or later, for better or worse. No one should have to hide from the truth.

but unless Alexander caught it and brought it up she would say and do nothing to the contrary of what she had done when he first entered. When he talked to her she shook her head slowly, not wanting to cause more pain as she was still sore, "I am thankful for the temporary ones Mr. Kerensky but if possible I would rather have the real deal.. I'm sure your invention is wonderful and will do as expected.. but I just wouldn't be comfortable with it in the end and would rather get the hard part over with as soon as possible rather than later."

Ketsu was completely out of his element, in regards to what to do. Thankfully, Naruko seemed to be coping with the amount of pain she was no doubt in; whether the meds the doctors had given her were the cause of that, or her own strength of will, Ketsu wasn't quite certain. It was a few hours before anyone would come in and tell them what to do next, since Ketsu certainly didn't know, but he stayed by Naruko's side the whole time so she had at least one person there.

Finally, a fairly tall man with green hair walked in, releasing an aura of command as he scanned the room, immediately recognizing Naruko and confirming he was in the correct room. Ketsu scanned him over a few times, but was bothered by him at first due to no recognizable reiatsu coming from him; then, Ketsu remembered about Bounts, and how they were basically invisible. He figured that the man might mistake his own reiatsu as similar, but Ketsu's was at least detectable and human, just very subtle due to his natural suppression.

When the man mentioned his name, Alexander Kerensky, Ketsu committed it to memory; the man would no doubt be useful later on to know. Since he had introduced himself first, it was only fair that Ketsu did the same.

"Kai..." Closing his eyes for a moment, Ketsu corrected himself. "Ketsu Altana, at your service." The blond blushed lightly, realizing that the Hollow encounter had reminded him more of being a Shinigami than a Human, and he defaulted to that name. It wasn't the first time, and it certainly wouldn't be the last.

Alexander spoke directly to Naruko afterward, nodding to Ketsu, stating that he could replace her eyes. On one hand, Naruko seemed thankful for it, but on the other hand she didn't seem to want augmented eyes, instead preferring real ones. Whether or not Alexander could abide by that request, Ketsu was equally unsure, and he simply sat in the chair behind him watching the two and their encounter. This was their story right now, and he could chime in later; either way, he wouldn't leave until he knew for sure that Naruko was safe and sound.

Alex did notice that the man was going to say a different name, but made no mention of it. It wasn't his business, after all. but focused on Naruko instead. "Very well. It might take a few hours to see if we can find a suitable match. If you need anything, press this button and I'll be here ASAP." He handed her a clicker that would notify him personally, and made sure her free hand felt where the button was. "I'll just be down the hall, too." With a nod of acknowledgement towards Ketsu, he left to research the pair of eyes. Luckily, he didn't really need rest himself, being a bounto. But nonetheless, he worked to find a set that would match. The biggest thing was making sure she stayed calm due to the spiritual beast inside of her. If that gets out, that would be exceptionally bad to say the least. She seemed to be taking it well, but that could change at any time. At least he knew to calm her down should that happen, she made sure that most people knew that instead of just trying to kill her outright. Then there was that device she helped him put on her.

An excess amount of power often did things to people...how that would effect the new pair of eyes was unknown. But one that had sight only for it to be taken away often wanted it back. It took five hours to find the best possible match, and it would take another two for them to get there. Being part of the Committee had its advantages when it came to organ donations, thankfully. Plus eyes tend to still be highly experimental. Once he got the data he needed, he brushed up on his brain studies, particularly eyesight. One wrong move, and things could end extremely badly. He wasn't a dedicated doctor, it was more of a hobby that ended up being useful, but he'd suffice for this if he put in the time and work for it. He may stayed up to date, but it was always good to go over what would be required for this kind of surgery.

He'd come back with a half hour before the eyes would arrive. "Back again. We found a set that should be here in a half hour. According to the data, you're fit for surgery right away. Unless you want to wait until you're more recovered to have it." If she said she wanted it to be done as soon as possible, he'd beam at her even though she wouldn't be able to see it. "Alright. We'll start preparations then." With that, he'd leave to organize the nurses and support staff needed for this to happen.

And then they rolled her into surgery. The operation took about five hours. Eyes were complicated after all. The only somewhat worrisome thing was that once the eyes were connected, the dark brown pair turned blue. Her reiatsu most likely. But either way, she was in recovery quickly, and everything went off without a hitch. Either way, between him getting there, finding the eyes, them getting there, and the actual surgery, they were in there overnight. Recovery and maybe some therapy would be all that's left.

The six foot tall man, still in scrubs, went to see Ketsu. "Just thought you'd like to know, everything went well. And now we can chat a bit. Tell me about yourself and about what happened? I read the report and talked to the police officer, but it's different getting the story from the source."

Alexander Kerensky seemed to understand what Naruko wanted, and headed out in a rush to begin looking. Ketsu returned to simply being by Naruko's side, not wanting to let the poor girl be here by herself. He was fairly certain she'd fallen asleep at some point while Alexander was gone, but made no mention of it as Alexander finally returned, stating that the surgery was going to happen immediately, and took her into it.

An hour later, Ketsu was still awaiting news. Two hours, three, four, and even five hours later, he had begun to wonder if they'd left him here alone. He didn't want to leave Naruko if she was still here, but didn't particularly want to sit here and wait for Alexander and Naruko to possibly never return, anyway....

As he stood up and prepared to leave, taking his time on purpose to be as slow as he could without raising suspicion if they were to walk back in, gathering his things and making it seem more like he was tidying up and making the room a bit neater for when Naruko inevitably returned. As Ketsu Altana finished gathering everything of it, five and a half hours after they went into surgery, Alexander walked back in, still wearing his scrubs from the operation, and stuck up a conversation with Ketsu.

Specifically, Alexander told Ketsu that he wanted details on the Hollow Encounter, despite having read the report; Alexander wanted the details in person, straight from the source, so Ketsu began to tell him. They came out of the restaurant and one of them atacked Naruko from a blind spot, immediately cutting out the female blonde's eyes. Ketsu held her close for combot, and all three of the Hollows simply ceased existing.

Since he still had the option of keeping it a mystery, Ketsu chose to not fully reveal that it was his own actions which lead to the Hollows' demises, and stuck with the story that they died out of nowhere. He knew that one day, likey when he was joining the Committee for real, that he'd have to tell the truth or at least show his power, but he had a bad feeling that if he showed it to Alexander right now, the man would want to see more and would end up getting hurt.

"Your turn, now. When will Naruko come back, if everything went well?"

Naruko's world went even more..black. If possible given her sight was gone, as the doctors put her under for her surgery. She didn't think she'd get to stay unconscious as she expected another round of being lectured about letting her guard down but when she drifted to actual sleep she was surprised but let it come. The next thing she knew was she woke up and had opened her eyelids but still couldn't see, but she learned quickly that something was blocking her vision. Noticing her stirring one of the doctor's spoke up, "The surgery went rather well, but for the moment we ask that you give your body a little more time to adjust to the new nerve connections and such. By the time you make it to discharge from the hospital you should be okay'd to take the wrapping off. Just be careful because the first look through new eyes is the most disorientating and such. It should pass quickly though. If problems do persist after a couple of weeks just give us a call and we'll take care of what we can."

Naruko nodded and then noticed she didn't sense or hear Ketsu or Alexander in the room, "Can I get some help getting to my colleague and friend at least? Or have them brought to me?" the doctor said having a wheelchair and escort would be fine so went off to have it arranged, a few minutes later she was wheeled into the area Ketsu and Alexander were talking in. As she reached this area she caught the tail end of Ketsu asking, "When will Naruko come back, if everything went well?", which caused her to speak up for herself, "Right now silly." the doctor repeated his recommendation for Ketsu, knowing that Alexander was already aware, and then left Naruko with the two of them, "Thanks for the help Alexander. I'm still frustrated I let it happen though. I should have known better."

Her bijuu wondered what kind of game she was playing at since it berated her for that very thing and she yelled at it for being too passive, but kept itself silent figuring maybe the time spent thinking had made her change her mind?

Alex chuckled a little at Naruko's timing. "Advent humans and fullbringers heal faster than normal people, even if they're spiritually aware but have yet to awaken powers yet. Even so, some things still take time, even if it's faster than normal. Just be more mindful of your surroundings. Even though Junny isn't particularly good at sensing, he still keeps his wits about him, even when gorging on food and in familiar areas or when relaxing. Use this as a learning experience is all I ask. After all, in combat, anything can happen." He'd leave it at that. Even if this was avoidable, there was no real point to a longer lecture or a scolding. He'd been around for over 400 years, he'd seen his share. Still, something was bothering him.

"I've been around for 400 hundred plus years...when I hear the exact same story multiple times from different people, something is up. If it was Naruko's bijuu, there would have been a much larger fuss. If it was someone else around there that helped out, there should have been more to report. I can't help but be a little suspicious that maybe you had something to do with it and not wanting us to know for some reason. It's fine if you have powers, just be up front about it...it's not like we'll punish you for it or anything. So long as you behave and only use them in defense of others or yourself, you're fine..." Hopefully he'd just admit it then and there. If not, well, not like he had any proof, just gut instinct and experience.

Alex's comment about being around for 400 years made Ketsu's eyes open wider, as he suddenly realized he felt no spiritual pressure from Alex whatsoever. Not even lingering remnants from hiding it, like he himself could have, but absolutely nothing. Either Alex was an exceptionally powerful Shinigami, which would mean Ketsu would recognize him, or more likely he was a Bounto. Given that Ketsu had never personally encountered a Bounto before, he unfortunately couldn't be certain of either one... but he was leaning towards Bounto out of recognizability.

"It's more a matter of I don't fully trust myself, Mr. Kerensky. Please leave it at that until we get back to the Committee Headquarters and I can speak with Maki Kesshou." Ketsu shifted the position of Caliburn lightly, the weapon at his hip rather than on his back, but since it wasn't the real Caliburn anyway, he didn't see any reason to put it up there. It felt weird, at first, having to learn to use a weapon that had actualy weight to it, but he had learned it quickly. He rarely even used it anyway, it was more of a distraction from his real powers.

Speaking of real powers, he figured that the easiest way to get Alexander to be quiet would be to show at least something. Ketsu held out his right hand and created a compressed fireball in his hand, his reiatsu beginning to leak out, but he snuffed both of them out before any major damage happened. He didn't want to cause any issues at the hospital, but he wanted Alexander to know that he understood what he was saying and had done to this point.

Turning to Naruko, almost as though he were dismissing Alexander now, Ketsu smiled.

"Shall we go to Headquarters now, Naruko?"

Ninja's Way
Naruko felt the same warmth and spiritual energy she sensed when the hollow had been ..removed after she sustained her injury. She had figured it was his of course, as it was emanating from him while he was holding her back then too, which made her face color remembering, but feeling it now and hearing the sound of flames she understood even better about why he was acting the way he was about it. This realization caused her to stand up immediately and walk towards him despite still being blindfolded, and nearly falling over when she first stood up, and when she got there she reached back as if to slap him and almost seemed to have done so, except her hand was slowed and just against his cheek instead of painfully smacking him by the end of the motion.

"You are not the first nor the last who has learned how dangerous a power can be. Maybe in time you'll open up to me a little bit more about it. Til then you are right we should go to the Committee Headquarters, we were actually heading out to go that way when this all happened Alex. Want to go back with us? I got money for an extra bus ticket." She seemed to frown a bit before cheering back up, "I would just get us a plane..but...I..really don't feel up to not having my feet near the ground right now.."

She waited for his response, got everyone gathered up to do whatever they needed to before leaving the hospital, then proceeded to walk with Ketsu, and possibly Alex depending, out of said hospital. As soon as she was outside she started tugging at her blindfold so she could try to use her new eyes like the doctors said she could, though she remembered to open them slowly since the first glance is the hardest to adjust to. The light shone far brighter than it should have at first which made her squint, but they quickly adjusted and almost even seemed to.."Dim" the brighter lights to a normal level, though she could tell they were still brighter than other lights in her field of vision. She thought it was odd but didn't question it for now.

But what was now nagging her was Kukou muttering something about "How odd.." when she thought of how happy she was with her new eyes. Making her worry something was wrong, however she didn't let it show as she just smiled big and giggled a bit, "Well I'd say I can definitely see again. Looks like I'll have to try to get Alexander a bonus of some kind when we get back for helping me out so awesomely eh Ketsu?"

Alex was about to say something when Naruko stood up and said it for him. Nodding approvingly even though she couldn't see it, he added on to it. "My lab assistant can kill half his peers with a flick of a wrist. And can turn rings into whips of surprisingly destructive power. Manipulating fire is, sorry to say, nothing special. If you have issues with control, which I honestly doubt seeing as you're suppressing naturally it seems, there is more than enough people at the Committee who can assist with that. As far as using a bus goes, I'll pay for it. Besides, we get compensated for travelling expenses when we have our receipts, and I've noticed you haven't exactly been doing that...give me a few minutes and I'll be ready to go." Getting up, he left to change back into his normal clothes and to grab Loran, who was in the form of an odd cane with an actual blade on the end...a sealed form that could easily be used to harm.

Coming back, if Naruko was up for it, he'd be booking the bus and leaving with everyone in tow. Upon Arriving, he would depart, having lots of work to do. He had a feeling he didn't need to worry about Naruko, though did tell her if something didn't feel right to go straight to him and call. Ketsu seemed to be a decent enough young man, so he'd leave it to him.

~Thread End?~
