The main meeting hall of the Shiba Clan's compound was dead silent, awaiting the new Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13. It was customary for them to ensure a positive relationship whenever a new leader was appointed, and given a distinct lack of clan members in the Divisions, this meeting was imperative. The Elders each sat in two rows, quiet and imperious as they secretly felt a cold sweat run down their backs. Not only had their elusive Clan Head returned, he had recently grown exponentially in strength. This...brought mixed feelings, and for good reason. Servants scurried back and forth, and the old bastards had their trophy wives sitting subserviently behind them. They, however, were unimportant, and merely attempted to waylay any decisions made by their leader simply because they felt they could. As Branch Family, however, they didn't even have a Branch Head, and thus were disorganized and had no standing other than as advisers. The real strength of the clan sat lazily at the back of the room, dressed in a simple, informal black yukata with a First Division haori draped casually over his shoulders, the only difference between it and the one worn by the Captain-Commander being the black interior and sleeveless nature.

Okami Shiba breathed out slightly, balancing a saucer of sake on his fingers as his Zanpakuto leaned against his lap, on edge within the back of his mind. He didn't understand why she had to be like that, until he recognized her dilemma. He was technically an exile for a crime he didn't commit. Well, he HAD escaped violently, and killed two Captains on his way out, but the charges against him had been lowered by Central 46 and the Gotei 13 of the time once they had taken years of service into account. It still didn't change one simple fact, however. He was, and always would be, a Vizard.

In her short term as Captain Commander so far, Akane hadn't been much reason to leave her office. After the initial rush of change since her coronation she had spent most of her time dealing with paperwork and the like. That part of her job was starting to slow down at the very least, so she had more time to really get to grips with the situation at hand. On today's agenda was a meeting to one of the major clans, apparently it was a customary thing that she was expected to attend to. Quite a presumptuous thing really, the clans had lost most of their power when the Central 46 had been assassinated, or whatever had happened to them. However, a new one had been formed with Rena's recommendation and they had suggested this was for the best if for nothing but appearances.

So here she was, approaching the Shiba compound. Met by a small party of the branch members to escort her into the main meeting hall, offering a respectful bow before she took her own seat opposite the head of the clan. She'd heard of him, though his exploits as a shinigami didn't have any bearing on her thoughts right now however. What was on her mind was the fact that apparently this vizard had been given free reign to come back into Seireitei with known connections to Ika Mazi. Though he was required to have an escort while he was here to keep the clan's affairs in order.

Time to think on that later, the girl decided, instead opting to just wait for the meeting to begin. It wasn't like she'd been to one of these before and could only assume that there would be someone ready to talk soon. All the while though, the young captain commander was focused on Okami. Those fierce blue eyes practically burning a hole through him as she tried to figure out his angle, to figure out what kind of man he really was.

Okami met the Captain-Commander's gaze coolly, his bright blue eyes matching the young woman's darker blue in intensity. The elders of the clan were shaking in their seats before the Vizard cracked a grin, closing his eyes and raising his hands in a placating gesture. "Geez, what's with the scary look? You'll wreck your pretty face doing that! My name's Okami. Might I ask yours?"

Well, that certainly diffused the situation for the elders, if their sighs of relief and groans at their Head's antics were anything to go by. Opening his eyes and lowering his hands, he moved Tsukiakari Shojo to his right side, the tachi's blade facing inwards as a sign of respect. Picking his saucer of sake back up, he handed it to the lady in front of him before pouring himself another, sipping at the fine drink and setting it down in front of him. "Seriously, relax. I'm not going to bite. The entire point of this meeting is to get to know each other. That way, there's no misunderstandings in the future when it comes to Clan business with the Gotei 13. I'm not sure how any of the other Great Noble Houses do this, but the Shibas tend to be a bit more informal. I've heard through the grapevine that you had a meeting with Ika. I can only imagine how that might have gone, and it's not a pretty thought. If I had to guess, I'd say there was a bit of a misunderstanding right off the bat. So, I guess I'll start with the basics. What do you know about the Vizard? What is the difference between them and a normal Shinigami?"

Oh, this was a dangerous game to play with the Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13, and Okami knew it. Of course, he was hoping that her natural curiosity would win out over any misgivings she had after meeting Ika. The man he thought of as a little brother was certainly cut from a different mold, and Okami was relying on the young lady's understanding of that. Hopefully his gamble paid off.

Akane's cold expression didn't seem to falter, regardless of what the man did, he seemed to be messing with her by the looks though as he broke the stare with some sort of dismissive comment about her gender. She furrowed a brow slightly, clearly not impressed with this regardless as he wasn't taking this meeting seriously at all "You'd think someone who had their clan on the line would take this a little more seriously"

The fiery young redhead let him place the drink in-front of her as she glanced to those at the sides of the table. Relief on their faces... So maybe there was a chance that the start of their little meeting might have taken a turn for the worse. Even if he didn't have the same spiritual strength as Ika or Akane herself, a fight here would be devastating, so it was probably for the best to keep her goading to a minimum. Lifting the saucer she would take an idle sip as Okami went on explaining the purpose of the meeting, bringing up the previous encounter with Ika Mazi. She was still finding shards of broken desk around her office after that one.

"The purpose of this meeting is you trying to convince me to allow you to come into Soul Society. Whatever deal you had going with Rena Lisola is now irrelevant" She placed her sake down carefully as she turned her gaze back to him. "Do you understand?" He needed to be reminded that he wasn't in control here, that the only reason he was still he was allowed to stay was because Akane had allowed it and most of all she wasn't some little girl he could try and mess with without consequence.

"I also don't intend for a repeat performance of that meeting, at the very least my desk will be safe this time" A little bit of humour was a good sign, showing that she wasn't going to keep up her tough act the whole time, so long as he didn't overstep his bounds. "Why don't you explain it to me" She had a rough idea of what a vizard was, but figured it would be best to get this information from one of them...

Sighing and running a hand through his hair, Okami's eyes lost quite a bit of their mirth at Akane's words. So this was how she was going to be? He wouldn't argue with her, given that it would defeat the purpose of the entire meeting. Even the elders were confused about her statement. Their clan was still going strong, despite Okami's exile, as he kept in constant contact from the World of the Living. At least she cracked a joke towards the end, causing Okami to smirk. That...definitely sounded like Ika. Waving his hand in the air casually, he decided to explain himself a bit before going any further. He really didn't want any misunderstandings. "Do you honestly believe that I think so little of you? The fact that you were named Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13 makes you worthy of the utmost respect in my eyes. Aki was always a fan of the more laid-back way of doing things, and so am I. If you have a problem with that, let me know. I can do formal. Besides, what's wrong with a compliment? You ARE an attractive young woman, Akane-san, and you don't need stress lines marring your face so early. Trust me on that one."

Giving the leader of the Gotei 13 a sly wink, his face turned dead serious as he launched into an explanation on the Vizard. "As to the Vizard, I suppose I'll start at the beginning. Hollows and Shinigami actually aren't that different, only separated by a barrier in concept. To create a Vizard, all a Shinigami needs to do is cross that barrier. It's easier said than done, though. After a Shinigami is infected with Hollow reiatsu, they go to the first stage. During a time of intense emotion or insane stress, the barrier will begin to crack and break entirely. Unlike a normal soul, which explodes and reforms into a Hollow before it's mask forms, a Vizard's mask will form first, indicating that their soul is struggling against the Hollowfication. If you don't successfully become stable, then you go through what is known as Soul Suicide. The easiest way to stop it is by introducing a direct counter to your soul, a combination of a Quincy's Heilig Pfeil and a Plus soul turned into a sort of vaccine. It IS possible to stop the process through sheer willpower, but it's far more difficult than any other method. After a Vizard's soul has stabilized, they develop an Inner Hollow. This normally takes the appearance of a photo-negative of yourself, although it can also take on an appearance similar to your Zanpakuto. This is the second stage, where your Inner Hollow will begin to fight against you for control. Whenever they take control, a partial mask begins to form, and your power spikes immensely due to the Hollowfication. It's like an addiction, in that every time it happens it becomes easier to fall into it. The third stage comes only when you can successfully repress your darker half."

Taking another drink of his sake, Okami would shift on the floor and watch Akane's eyes for any indication of danger as his right hand lifted to his face and moved across, almost as if he were wiping away tears. Black reishi, surrounded by royal blue formed a blank mask in the shape of a skull, devoid of a mouth and marred only by a pair of eye holes and angled horns coming from the temples and facing forward. A pair of red markings spread downward from the eyes on the bone-like substance, as if he were crying blood. Continuing the motion, Okami pulled the mask from his face and held it in his hand, the sclera of his eyes having turned black while his reiatsu jumped and became darker. His voice didn't have it's normal double tone, since he wasn't actively wearing the mask, but it would still be disconcerting to know that, at the moment, the man was closer to a Hollow than a Shinigami had any right to be. Passing it over to the lady in front of him, he would allow her to take his mask from him while he continued his explanation. It would be cold, and feel exactly like some sort of bone was molded like clay. "The third stage of a Vizard's evolution is where all but the strongest stop. You need to go into your Inner World and fight against your own Hollow, beating him or her into submission. While this happens, you become more and more like a Hollow outside your mind, and lash out and attack anything around you. The best way to get around hurting anyone is to be bound in several high-level Bakudo, which you will undoubtedly break out of, and then fight a volunteer. You have around an hour to beat your Inner Hollow, and if you fail you need to be killed, because at that point you've lost your humanity. If you succeed, though, you gain complete control over your Hollowfication and can even learn some generic abilities such as Cero. Your Inner Hollow will likely fade away, perhaps being sealed deep within your subconscious. When mine died, my Zanpakuto spirit ended up fusing with his reiatsu and becoming my Inner Hollow herself. Anyway, the strongest of the Vizard can go into the fourth and final stage, where they can go beyond a Shinigami's Bankai and become a full Hollow, yet remain in control. Ika Mazi has the ability to do this, as do I. Any questions?"

Okami then finished off his sake, pulling out a bottle and refilling the saucer as he waited for Akane's response. Hopefully it wouldn't be to shove a Zanpakuto up his ass, or something like that, although it WOULD be just his luck.

The Captain Commander didn't know what this man thought of her really, so far most outside of the Gotei hadn't shown her much respect and she was sure that some inside were hiding their disappointment in the young woman, she hadn't really done anything to prove herself at this stage after all. Regardless, she decided to just brush off the compliment and potential stress lines. Did shinigami get stress lines? She couldn't be sure, but she quickly purged the thought before listening intently to his explanation. It wasn't something that was taught in the academy after all... and if she was going to have to deal with any new vizards showing up, she'd need to know a little more about them.

Throughout the speech, she couldn't help but be a little ill at ease when he donned his mask, her hand subconsciously moving to rest on Arashi's hilt, just in case. Though he might not know it, Akane was particularly dangerous off the draw, with Iaijutsu being her main focus during her training. Her hand slipped free however as he hands her the mask, she wasn't sure if that meant he couldn't use this new power or not, but she took it anyway. Carefully examining the thing, turning it about curiously as he went on to explain the stages of hollowification and all of that jazz. Rather interesting stuff to say the least, Ika may have been right if it was as bad as all that, they didn't really have the facilities or knowledge to train and control someone like that.

"Well, that seems... not straight forward, but simple enough I suppose" She shrugged, having committed everything to memory for later. "One question though, how does it happen? Shinigami fight hollows all the time and don't get 'infected'. So there must be more to it than that" She places the mask back on the table before going back to her drink, emptying the saucer. It was a long shot really, even if he did know he might not want to tell her, but if they could narrow down exactly what caused a shinigami's soul to succumb to such a thing. She rests her hands back across her lap as she waited, hoping for a little more enlightenment on the subject.
