A city painted in bright colours, the canvas long an wide, light beaming from with in it borders. Karakura Town, was the place. It was rather late, yet the city was still thriving with life. The moonlight shone upon the dark streets, half covered by clouds. it wouldn't be long before the bright city would soon settle down, and all would be at rest just at the borders of the city. The stars lit the sky, there colours swirling around as they smiled at the moon. But not all was what it seemed, as the night seemed to welcome the darkness and the shadows would stir violently.

A young girl, looking to be around eight years old, was wondering around the still busy streets. No one seemed to pay attention to her, and she seemed to ignore the crowds herself. Minding her own business as she happily walked among the large crowds. She seemed to be heading towards a large park, one were a playground was at. She was in an olden looking dark blue dress, with a bow. In her hands was an odd looking doll, one that seemed to look as if it was made from old scrap and cloth. She held the doll close, hugging it tightly as she entered the moonlit quiet park.

Making her way quickly to a playground where swings were located, she began talking to her doll. "Look Mr. Bubbles, it's a swing." she said, looking at the doll smiling, before turning its odd face to look towards a swing set.

The young girl proceeded to sit down on a swing, looking up at the beautifully lit sky, while swinging softly on the swing. "The sky looks pretty Mr. Bubbles?", the young girl said holding the doll towards the sky. She the placed the doll on her lap, looking down at it. The swing creaking and screeching as she softly swung.

The thing about Vampires is... there are so many myths regarding them, so many legends and fairy tails, that it's insanely difficult to know the truth. Then again, since there were a grand total of like five in existence, it was equally difficult to actually meet one and know the truth.

Ever since the wars had died down and even before that, when they switched to guns instead of swords, Devola had been more and more of a recluse. There wasn't really a point to fighting in them if she couldn't have her fill of blood, and given the assinine gun shit she couldn't exactly get close without arousing suspiscion. Here in Karakura Town, though, with the moonlight cresting over the horizon and the abundance of reishi in the atmosphere, Devola didn't feel as reclusive.

Strolling through the streets without a care in the world, the black-haired and red-eyed girl wasn't looking for anyone or anything in particular, but was instead simply browsing. She'd already had her fill of blood for the evening, and thus wasn't looking for a meal; instead, she was simply admiring Humanity. She'd been born almost two thousand years ago, so seeing how they've developed since then was something she was genuinely curious about.

That was, until she noticed the girl. Sitting on a single swing, holding a doll in her lap and swinging lightly back and forth, Devola's gaze narrowed. Either this little girl was a Vampire, like herself, or there was something else very different about her; unlike everyone else she'd seen in the rather active night, this girl had no signature. Much like Devola herself, neither of them had any spiritual presence, and couldn't be sensed that way. That alone piqued the Vampire's curiosity.

"Hey kiddo, there you are." She was no fool; anyone talking with a child was at risk for people thinking things, and if she pretended like she knew her, then hopefully the girl would catch the pitch and go along with it; "We can play a little longer on the swings, we don't have to go home yet."

As Devola sat down on the swing next to the child, she smiled lightly. If the child was clever, they would simply smile back and wait for people to leave, or talk quietly so no one else could hear them. Either way, Devola would respond in sync.

The young girl who swung lightly back and forth, stared down at her doll and smiled as she did so. It was almost as if her doll was smiling back at her, regardless of the fact that it didn't really have a normal face. The girl seemed to be in her own little word, completely blind to the outside. Until she heard a voice that seemed to come out of no where, the voice was soft and motherly in a way. "Hey kiddo, there you are.", the voice said. The young girls head shot up, as she looked to the direction of the voice. before the young girl was a women, with black hair and crimson red eyes. The young girl didn't say a thing, she was too shy to do so. She held her doll in front of her, facing its face towards the stranger. Trying to hide herself behind her doll.

The strange women continued to speak."We can play a little longer on the swings, we don't have to go home yet.", she said. The young girl was confused, she didn't know how to respond to a random stranger talking to her as if she knew her. But after a moment of silent she finally spoke. "Where is home?", she said peering her face from around her doll. The girl stopped swinging, and only sat there looking towards the stranger for a bit. She pointed her dolls arm towards the stranger and said, "Look Mr. Bubbles, is she an angel?".

It seemed like she... wasn't all there, to an extent. Not that she had mental defficiencies, Devola would never imply that, but more along the lines of her memory wasn't the best, and she clearly wasn't correctly thinking about things. When the little girl asked where home was, Devola picked up on a tinge of curiosity like she didn't know where her actual home was, but luckily her voice was quiet enough and shy enough that no one else would hear it; hell, Devola only heard it because of her vampiric hearing.

As the little doll was held out and the girl asked if Devola was an angel, Devola smiled genuinely and almost sadly. She swung lightly on the swingset, staying silent for just a moment, turning back to the girl to answer her question.

"I'm not an angel, sweetie. Angels live in Heaven." While, of course, Devola didn't believe in that type of religious fervor, she was well versed in it, having participated in the crusades; she knew how to talk to religious people without offending them, and even empathize with them in a way that made them genuinely believe her. "What's your name, kiddo?"

The strange woman seemed to answer Kiahni's question, but not before she smiled at the fact that the girl had asked that question. The strange woman swung lightly on the swing opposite to Kiahni, staying silent as she did so, before she turned to the girl. "I'm not an angel, sweetie. Angels live in Heaven.", the stranger said. Kiahni's face at that point revealed a tiny smile. She began playing with her doll, like kids do when they pretend that their doll is real. Kiahni seemed to lose herself again, in that very moment. She completely lost track of what was going on around her again. The doll was the only point of her attention.

That was until she was broken out of her little trance when the strange women spoke again. This time the stranger asked a question, "What's your name, kiddo?", the woman asked. Kiahni was silent at first, sort of hesitating to answer or more like she had to try and think about her name. She hopped off the swing she was sitting on and announced herself, "My name is, k-kiahni", she said bowing to the women. Then she held up her doll and said, "...and this is Mr. bubblesssss", she said waving one of the dolls arms towards the stranger. Kiahni smiled towards the stranger as she sat back down. Kiahni placed her doll back onto her lap, and began to lightly swing again. Before asking a question of her own, or... more like someone else's question. "Mr. Bubbles says what is your name?" Kiahni said towards the stranger, with her little smile showing up again. She continued to swing softly for a moment before continuing, "Mr. Bubblesss is saying if you here to save me from the..." she seemed to pause in her sentence for a moment, looking around her quickly. Then she continued but seemed to whisper it, "...The Monsters?"

She didn't pay much heed to the girl's hesitance, though she did smile at the bow. Maybe it wasn't that she wasn't all there in the head, but rather that she was genuinely just young and unaware of a lot of things. Devola admittedly didn't have much practice with youngin's like Kiahni, since she was approaching two thousand years of age, it made a degree of sense that she'd forget young people, children specifically, weren't always fully aware of things. Her doll being named Mister Bubbles was cute though, but the way she held it gave Devola a weird feeling... she didn't know what to do about that.

"My name is Devola, Mr. Bubbles." Though she was talking to Kiahni, Devola felt it may be better to respond directly to Mr. Bubbles, though she wasn't entirely sure why she had that feeling. When Kiahni asked the next question, the small smile on her face fading as she looked around, Devola bit her lip softly.

"What monsters are you talking about, sweetie? I might be able to help." Smiling lightly, Devola continued swinging casually and softly, looking for an answer. "Are there any nearby?"

Kiahni continued to look around her, paranoid of her surroundings. She had placed her doll on the swing as she got off of it and slowly scanned the area around her continuously with her eyes. However there was nothing in sight. "My name is Devola, Mr. Bubbles." the stranger replied. She was obviously answering Mr. Bubbles' question. An odd dreary aura seemed to surround the Doll, it was as if it was staring at Devola as she answered. It was as if the doll was, alive. Kiahni looked towards the swing where Mr. Bubbles was and took a step towards it, she pushed the swing gently. She began to do this as a way of ignoring her surroundings. It was as if the Doll was conversing with her. Sort of like when a parent tries to distract a child as a way of calming them down.

Devola continued, as she responded to what Kiahni had said. "What monsters are you talking about, sweetie? I might be able to help." she said with a kind smiling face. "Are there any nearby?". As Kiahni heard Devola say this, she looked over at the women, as she casually swung on the swing. She took a little while to respond, but she eventually did. "The Monsters. The ones with white masks" Kiahni said, as she continued to gently swing Mr. Bubbles on the swing. Kiahni turned her attention back to Mr. Bubbles. Her face turned blank, as if her soul had just left her body. "Mr. Bubbles says that they are all around us, but not noticed us yet." Kiahni looked back towards Devola, her eyes were slightly beginning to tear up and her body was beginning to tremble. Kiahni was genuinely scared.

"Have you seen the Monsters too?" She asked, her voice shaking. She had stopped swinging her Doll, and just as she did so Mr. Bubbles fell off. She was trembling too much to retrieve her creepy yet lovable Doll. Simply staring off into the darkness of the playground.
