I was glad that we were finally getting some Quincies in our lovely little organization, but the next name on my list, Sakota Ryudo was of a different breed. His apparent claim to fame and reason for drawing my attention was the possibility of Quincies being able to kill Hollows without destroying the souls, purifying them instead.

Sakota finally received word on the application that he had submitted to the committee after his trip to the Gotei 13 had finished. He had gotten home from school earlier in the week to find a letter addressed to him, inside of it was a ticket to New York with a letter that said the following.

Dear Mr. Ryudo,
Your application to join the Committee has been accepted, pending interview. We are pleased to have heard that you found a way to take the quincies off of the watch list with the shinigami, and are grateful at your offer to share this with other quincies. We await your arrival in New York.

Sincerely,
Maki Kessho

Reading the letter over a few more times he folded the paper putting it into his coats inner pocket with the ticket dated for that Friday. For the rest of the week Sakota could barely focus in school, he was looking forward to finally being able to meet up with and join those who were responsible for him being alive today. The end of the day on Friday couldn't come soon enough, he already had his bag packed and ready to go all he had to do was go home and from there take a cab to the air port.

The flight to New York was uneventful bordering on boring, touching down there was a man holding a sign with his name written on it, shrugging the gray-haired quincy followed him getting into the car. The driver took him to a facility and escorted him to a room telling Sakota that he would pick him up in the morning to take him to Maki's office. Too excited to sleep well Sakota went through the box that Kokoro had given him, there was dozens upon dozens of crosses in there, of varying types. From your normal catholic cross, to pentacles, to even gems hanging from a chain. Hell he even found a star of david in the box which he had to chuckle at. A quincies cross was less about religious beliefs and more about having a focus, just because the first quincies were on some form of religious crusade against hollows doesn't mean that as a people they hadn't evolved from there.

The following morning came quickly and Sakota was waiting out front of the building when the driver arrived to carry him to the offices of the company that was the Committee's public face and front. Walking in he made his way up the stares to Ms Kessho's office where her receptionist had him wait in a little lobby while she announced his arrival. After receiving permission from Maki the receptionist would show Sakota and close the door behind him, Nodding respectfully to his host he would say, "Good Morning Ms. Kessho. It is a pleasure to meet you, I am Sakota Ryudo, a Quincy."

A new arrival that I had gotten notice of and called to my facility was just now getting here. He was a few minutes late, but as polite as he was, I suppose I couldn't fault him too much, he introduced himself much in the way a Japanese might, with plenty of dignity and honor. He also had that cram school look to him, as if he'd nearly ruined his entire life for the sake of schooling. I remember hating that, even though I did well in those days. In his hands, he carried a chest of sorts, a small box that I assumed had something to do with his wanting to join the committee.

"Sakota Ryudo. You have been called, and you answer. May I ask what it is you come to offer the Committee?"

"I have come to offer two separate things to the committee. The first being my services as a quincy who after going through trials I would rather not go into has gained the ability to purify hollows and other souls instead of destroying them." Sakota answered keeping his voice neutral even as his mind traveled back and relived the pain of the ordeal he went through. "I also come bearing gifts for the other quincies of the committee, a Specially modified cross that when they use as their focus will grant their arrows the purifying power as well. While some may not like the idea of not destroying the creatures others will clearly see the benefit of being off of the Gotei's radar. Plus it will allow you to safely assign them to missions that might have hollow involvement."

Sakota bowed again this time holding the box away from his body as if it was an offering. Should Maki look in the box she would find an assortment of pendants much like the ones all quincies wore as their focus. "I am sure that your R+D department might be able to analyze a few of them, and myself and see if they can come up with the ability to reproduce the effect should more quincies come out of the woodwork"

He presented to me a multitude of crosses, apparently designed for Quincies. These, he had said, would allow them to kill hollows and Arrancar and purify their souls, not destroy them as the past would remember. Presenting the box of them to me, he bowed respectfully, detailing what all it was for, that Research and Development might be able to replicate it and yadda yadda. "Well, that's quite useful. I'll send these to Jun and Alex right away." I called an assistant to take the box, and she'd do just that, if she knew what was good for her.

"Now about you, Sakota. If you wish to join the Committee, I would like to see what you are capable of. We have a room for that. Come with me." With that, I would wave, inciting him to follow me down a few hallways, into the training room. Hopefully he was wise enough to follow. I'd punch a few buttons, and uhhhh... What the heck was this room? I swear this thing was malfunctioning lately. It did some of the weirdest things. This time around it shifted to a room of pure darkness. It was so dark, I had trouble seeing the lights on the control panel, and couldn't even see a wall or boundary line. I could see Sakota, so at the very least we weren't going to be blind for this.

Sakota handed the box over to the assistant that Maki had called in, to take them away. The young quincy was loathe to let the whole thing out of his sight but he figured if there was any place where they would find the right hands this was going to be it. Following Maki to the training room, it was a large space probably secured against the leakage of spirtual pressure and attacks as to not cause any problems to the outside world. Maki had made her way over to what looked like a control panel and pressed some buttons, and after what looked like some kind of matrix glitch the room went pitch black, the two human's being the only things visible. "I am not going to lie Kessho-san but this setting might prove rather counter productive to seeing what I am capable of"

To prove his point Sakota would manifest his bow, a sleek black long bow, which blended into the surroundings that the room apparently decided to give them. While it would allow his bows to hide with ease it will also cause his attacks to light up the room like times square giving him both an advantage and a disadvantage. But who knows Maki might change the settings some more before signalling for them to begin.

I produced enough Tidal Silver to coat my body in the liquid, then a bit more to dangle in the air. It was easier to see in its solid form, but invisible when in liquid. Kind of odd in this setting, but I'd go with it. I saw a flicker of something, but whatever it was, its color was as dark as the room itself. A similar thing happened with the object Sakota summoned into his hands. I assumed it was his bow due to him being a Quincy. "Before we get too invested in this, I'd almost forgotten my manners. Sakota-san, what part of Japan did you come from? I'm personally from a section of Hokkaido Prefecture. I'd prefer to get to know you a little simply because you remind me of home."

I'd wait for him to explain for a few minutes, then I'd take a combat stance. After waiting for him to finish speaking, I'd lob a couple chunks of solid crystal at him to see how he handled them. Something told me this was going to be a good fight.

"I do not know where I was born, as my parents died when I was young. In fact that incident is the reason I wish to join the committee, but that is a story for another time. I currently reside in Karakura town in Western Tokyo." Sakota would say with a polite bow, his eyes never leaving Maki should it have been a ploy for a sneak attack. Maki waited patiently as he spoke, taking up a fighting stance once it was obvious that he was done speaking. Maki opened up the fight by throwing something his way, it looked like some kind of rock flying through the air. Not sure what it was, though quite sure he didn't want it to strike him the gray haired quincy would draw his bow, loosing two arrows quickly at the floating rocks knocking them out of the sky. The rocks themselves didn't seem to damaged by the arrows but they were a good distance away from him.

Not wanting accidentally kill or maim his boss Sakota drew his bow, nocking one of his special arrows he fired it. As the arrow approached Maki it would open up into a massive net made of reishi enhanced Reiraku that even a person like Maki might have a hard time breaking.

Techniques Used:
Name: Netzpfeil (Web Arrow)
Description: Cooldown: 3 posts Using a similar mechanic to Ransotengai Sakota manipulates spirit ribbons into an arrow that he then fires at his opponent. Mid flight the arrow will explode open revealing a net of Reishi-reinforced spirit ribbons that will enclose around his target trapping them in an equivalent to a Bakudo #70.

He seemed to deal with the limited vision pretty well. Still, I found myself unimpressed. I mean, anyone could do that I would hope, and his power itself was lacking. At least he wasn't showing off anything too serious... Wait.... What was this...?

As he seemed to ready another arrow, I couldn't quite tell until it was too close to me, but it was a specialized arrow that felt like getting hit with a heavy pile of rope. I couldn't quite move for a few minutes, then I struggled, became irritated, you know, something that happens to impatient people when they're trying to do something and failing at it. I might have been cursing, but I hope the boy didn't mind. He might have been getting a chuckle out of it, who knows? After enough grumbling, I cried out "Oh to hell with this!" and poised some solid Tidal silver into blades to cut away at it until I could tear it apart forcefully and toss it aside. "Alright, time to dial things up a little. You'd better have something better than that to show me."

I uncorked a large portion of my power, about 60% of my maximum level, and covered my body in my favored crystal armor. I leapt toward the boy, aiming to beat him into the ground if I could. I'd also take a fair stab at sharpening those chunks he shot down earlier and firing them into the boy's legs. Those shards would detonate if they penetrated his legs, and that would be fun for a few minutes. Otherwise, he'd still have to deal with what should feel like truck punching him in the jaw.

Sakota was surprised that his web arrow had actually worked against Maki, especially in this area where his attacks were blatantly obvious, even if his weapons weren't. Standing still with another arrow ready Sakota watched as the leader of the committee struggled with the reishi-enhanced Reiraku that made up the net, finally getting fed up with it she cut the net throwing it aside where it disappeared from existence. Now that she was free Maki made it clear that she expected more from the gray haired quincy if he was expecting to join the ranks of the Committee. Suddenly Maki began releasing a massive chunk of pressure, it was enough that Sakota was immobile until he released his own Reiatsu, which was barely enough to counter it and allow him to move freely.

Even in the darkness Sakota could see Maki's body get covered in some form of Armor, Okay lets test that and see if It will block my arrows. Was all he got to think before having to hirenkyaku away from Maki's 'pounce' avoiding it by a hair, turning with his bow drawn Sakota loosed an arrow at each of the chunks that she had sharpened and sent flying at him knocking their trajectories off causing them to bury themselves point first in the ground, before firing a pair of arrows at the boss lady herself.
