Skylar couldn't sense reiatsu. She couldn't use it as a means of locating her target in the middle of a fight. She barely even knew what the concept of reiatsu was.

Skylar could feel this.

It felt like overwhelming dread. Sorrow. Loneliness. The concept of being all alone against an enemy many times stronger than yourself with their pure bloodlust and your pure hopelessness was being forced into Skylar's subconscious, but by the time she was able to get her mind clear of those thoughts it was too late. Graven was on top of her, his sword being swung straight down at her. Skylar could feel it hit her before she felt the pain, and then felt it hit her again... this time with pain. Her body jumped back as a minor scrape appeared on her chest, but it slowly began to regenerate and heal itself, which was neat; she could feel the pain going away.

Alright, her turn!

Using Sonido to get back into melee range, Skylar punched at Graven's face with her right hand while punching at his crotch with her left - Regardless of whether or not either attack hit or Graven dodged, Skylar would follow up and chase him down to keep punching him. She knew now that a full powered attack from his sword could scratch her, but it wasn't enough to mortally wound her right now, so she'd stay on the offense for a while, punching and kicking him every second she got in range.

Graven took the fact that his sealed blade couldn't truly cut through her released Hierro in stride. It wasn't the first time he'd fought someone so thick-skinned, and it wouldn't be the last by far. Of course, it just proved that while Graven was certainly stronger, he'd need to actually release to do much physical damage. Five more gallons of blood seeped up from the sands around them as he twisted to the side, blocking the higher strike with his blade and the lower was deflected with a hand. Skylar hit like a Kenpachi, that was for certain...He was able to block and dodge a fair portion of the strikes, and what he hadn't were grazing shots, for the most part. He wasn't able to bring his concentration around quite enough to utilize the blood flowing around him for much more than to move it in the way of a few strikes, but it wasn't enough to hold out against a physical assault like this for long. Eventually, he took a punch to the gut that sent him flying back into a tree once more, only stopping when he solidified a stream of reishi under his feet to slow him down and allow him to keep his feet. Breathing fairly heavily, he looked up with that same damned twinkled of excitement in his eye before holding his blade out, turning it towards the ground. "Your Resurreccion, your release, is a bit too much to handle like this, not when I'm finding it hard to focus because of your assault. You're doing well! Let's see how you handle this, though...Awaken, Emperador Pesadumbre!"

His blade glowed red briefly before it exploded, a tower of red energy erupting from his body and bringing itself down with even more force than before. It was both brief and felt like it lasted for hours before a howl broke through, shattering the landscape around them with a surge of power that signaled the end of the transformation. When things settled down, it revealed the Espada, fully healed and...changed. His uniform molded itself into a bodysuit, the white fur and v-cut remaining among the sleek plates as fur-trimmed gloves spread and formed themselves into claws seemingly capable of shredding steel with ease. Graven’s mask fragment expanded on either side, mirroring each other to extend 7 inches out from his face, forming a wolfish muzzle with downward points at the “chin” on both sides. The back of the fragment spread across his back and down his spine, creating armored hackles before ending in a wolf’s tail made purely out of the bone-like substance. An eerie, blood-red glow came from his hackles, his tail lashing as tendrils of red energy were drawn from the air around them before settling once more. His eyes narrowed once more as a smirk played along his lips, the odd pressure in the air increasing as he spoke. "Well, if there's one thing I'm grateful for, it's that we aren't indoors. I doubt the dome of Las Noches could handle this much reiatsu from either of us, let alone both. No, let's see how you handle this..."

With those words, the blood that surrounded him split into twenty needle-like constructs, floating for a moment before lashing out at Skylar full-force, each one with the destructive power of a Cero and tracking her if she dodged. In addition, Graven would appear to sniff the air and flick his eyes back and forth to ascertain her new position if she moved, building up a red ball of energy before it lanced out towards her, destroying everything in it's wake. This was a normal Cero, but given how little she seemed to know about her own powers he assumed that she'd think of it as something different. Hopefully she could handle this much...

Emperador Pesadumbre draws reishi in from the surrounding area to form Ceros, imbuing and mingling them with Graven’s blood to pump the destructive power through his entire body. He can then release the Ceros at will through his body or the blood under his control. The control Graven has over blood is increased, allowing him to manipulate double the original 30 gallons at once. His claws are insanely strong - on the level of a Bankai of equal tier - complimenting his natural abilities and replacing a Zanpakuto when necessary.

Name: Sanguine Reiatsu
Effect: Arguably, this ability places Graven among the most powerful Arrancar, perhaps even dominating in combat effectiveness. His reiatsu is…unique, in that it has the form and consistency of blood. When released, Graven is able to manipulate his own blood, along with the “blood” created by this effect. Solidifying, moulding, and shaping this blood is child’s play, along with enhancing attack or defensive power as he sees fit. Using this technique, Graven can reshape and control both his own reiatsu and any blood upon the battlefield to use against his opponent. He can control about 30 gallons at most, half of which is produced upon release of his reiatsu, gaining 5 gallons every post afterward until he hits maximum capacity. Being hit by the blood itself causes damage similar to an average Cero, allowing him to use this technique as both an effective weapon and a powerful defense.

Name: Enhanced Senses
Effect: Due to his nature as a Wolf-Based Hollow, Graven's senses (excluding his spiritual ones) are far more sensitive than those of a human or Shinigami. Even other Hollows are incapable of matching this aspect of the Espada in action. Beyond-perfect eyesight, sonar hearing, hyper-sensitive skin and taste-buds, and a nose nearly 1,000 times more sensitive than normal all combine to make Graven the perfect predator.

Upon seeing all of this, Skylar began to use Sonido to back up; the needles were tracking her, so she needed to think fast.

Trusting her body's instincts, Skylar used Sonido around and around, circling behind Graven and then using Sonido again to close the gap immediately after he fired the final Cero, knowing the needles were still tracking her and moving straight towards her, as Skylar began to punch Graven again. If he moved away, Skylar would stay on the opposite side of the needles, attempting to make them all crash into him or until they stopped tracking her.

"You just don't take no for a god damn answer, do you?" Skylar muttered to herself. "I don't care what Los Noches is, I don't care that you think you're the King of this world, I don't care about any of it!" Skylar wasn't, admittedly, sure what she did care about just now; she knew she didn't care about Graven and what he was trying to do, but she didn't know what would make her care or what she cared about at all. She was as strong as she could get for now... wasn't she?

Could... going with Graven make her stronger?

Graven watched with a small inkling of pride as his new Primera dodged the Cero, and avoided getting splashed by his blood in the initial movements. Oh, he had no doubt she'd join eventually. The lure was there already, it was just a matter of time until she took it. Her spiraling around him was an indicator towards her prior training, as was the punch she threw towards him. Ducking out of the way and to the side, he noticed that she was keeping him between herself and the blood under his command, hoping that it would strike him. Liquefying his needles again, he felt five more gallons join the twenty behind him as he got into an American Boxing stance to match hers, throwing a perfectly-executed haymaker at full speed towards Skylar's armored torso. This wasn't the wild swing of an amateur, though. This was the strike of a master, the force coming from the dirt beneath the two combatants, travelling up the leg and back, through the shoulder, and into the fist with a snap of the hips to drive it home. Whether or not the punch was successful, it would be followed up with a spin and a tail lash that would feel like a full spinning kick. So much more aesthetic than using one's leg, Graven mused. Using Sonido to move about forty feet backwards and twenty feet into the air after his attack, he would address the younger Arrancar once more. "You're strong, definitely, but trust me when I say that you could get far stronger than this. The position of Primera probably doesn't matter. Politics don't matter. Ultimately, all the position is is a recognition of your strength, and an opportunity to get stronger. The Espada are warriors, Skylar. Hollows don't generally care for politics. All that matters to us as a race is power. It disgusts me, but even as our leader my dislike doesn't change that fact. If nothing else, join me because I can make you far greater than this. Your first lesson? Evolve. Adapt. Overcome. If you don't...you'll die."

Graven's eyes hardened, and one of his claws flicked along his palm, letting out a slight amount of blood before the would sealed. A Cero bigger than the one that came before built up, the air seeming to warp around it as he aimed directly at the girl he was fighting. The dark red orb lashed out, creating a bloody smear across the sky as the Gran Rey Cero distorted reality around itself before impact. Letting out a heavy breath, Graven watched the explosion and smoke carefully, trying to see what had become of the interesting young lady known as Skylar.

So he could box too, huh?

Skylar recognized his stance before he had even finished shifting into it. It was pretty simple, a small amalgamation of a few different styles; it showed that he knew what he was doing, at least. As he went to throw a Haymaker at her, kicking the dust up and putting his whole body into it, Skylar dropped down to her knees while the punch went overhead just barely, and used Sonido to dodge the tail that came after, much like her spin kick earlier. As he backed off, Skylar took a moment to catch her breath while Graven began to talk.

Graven went on to explain that politics were bullshit, which Skylar already knew, but that his offer for her to be his Primera was a shot of her strength, and all it told Skylar was that the only way she'd get stronger would be to kill him, because you can't go further than the strongest. If he was the only person she would answer to, then he was the only one stronger than her, which meant none of the Espada would give her a challenge. Still, being a cave man meant he'd been around for a while, so maybe his strength would wane soon. Either way... she didn't need to think about it much longer, becasue he was firing another Cero at her.

This one, though, was much different. It was much stronger, she could tell, as the very air around her warped and twisted. Skylar decided to see just how strong Graven really was, and braced herself as the attack got closer. The moment it hit her, she grit her teeth and clenched her eyes, but she was still standing when the attack faded away. Feeling her body begin to heal the wounds, Skylar felt a surge to her reiatsu as she ascended into her Segunda.

The mask she wore covered her entire face, and then the rest of her. Her entire body was covered in black and gold armor, and she could feel it as it creeped along while her reiatsu was still surging. As the dust finally settled, she looked completely different.

Though he wouldn't see it from behind her helmet, Skylar glanced directly at Graven before using Sonido to appear behind him, even faster than before, and focused all her energy into her fist as she went to punch him in the back of his head.

Gran Rey Cero Punch
Skylar makes a single punch at Gran Rey Cero-level damage. If this ability doesn't hit anything, it has no cooldown; if this ability does hit a target, it has a 3-post cooldown before it can be used again.

Graven smiled openly at the increase in reiatsu coming from the young lady below. She had ascended to Segunda Etapa, a release originally heard of only in legends about HIM, using only her instincts? He could actually sense her reiatsu somewhat now, although it was still only a pond compared to an ocean. Watching her move in her Sonido to a position behind him, he noted the damage she had already taken. Ducking out of the way of a beam-like extension of her fist and throwing a knife-handed strike at her side, he began to flow one of the Ceros being pumped into his body into his fingertips to augment the strike with his claws. He had noticed before that her Hierro was thicker than usual. While his claws normally wouldn't have a problem with this, Skylar was in a state of release above his own, which meant that her Hierro would be that much stronger. Firing the Cero just after the moment of impact would assist the cutting potential, and the damage taken.

Whether or not the attack struck, he would use Sonido to back up about ten feet or so, still smiling the entire time. Chuckling, a whirlwind would begin to pick up around the two combatants, a torrent of black and red reiatsu spiraling from Graven's body and whipping up dust as he spoke. "I must admit, your ascension to Segunda Etapa is stunning, especially when one considers the amount of time you've been a Hollow, let alone an Arrancar. After all, for the longest time I was the only one who had achieved such a thing..."

The black energy, tinged around the edges with red, consumed his form and erupted outwards, blocking out the moon and raining down like blood. It was course, thick, and heavy, making it hard to breath, let alone see. The weight was such that the trees surrounding them began to crumble and disintegrate. One could almost hear the howling of a single lone wolf in the darkness, crying out in dismay. When the moon's light finally pierced through the veil, the weight hadn't lifted, instead settling itself around the battlefield like a heavy blanket, an ocean replacing the normal oxygen. Graven had changed once more, looking far more natural a being than he had in his Resurreccion. His white hair had lengthened to touch his thighs, and the red bangs framed his face, coming down to just below eye level. Two red tear tracks stretched down from below his eyes, replacing the black markings that were there before. He was covered in white fur from the waist down, and from just above his elbows to the tips of his clawed fingers. The skin along the palms of his hands looked black, as if they were replaced by the pads of a canine. His feet were animalistic and clawed, while his tail swished back and forth in an excited manner. His red eyes literally glowed with power as five more gallons of blood seeped up from the earth beneath him to join the rest under his control. The "0" tattooed on his chest was plain to see, as was his musculature. Graven relished in the return of his full power, feeling better than he had in a long time. He chuckled lightly under his breath as he remembered the first time Alyss had seen this form. She had commented that he had looked like a god in the moonlight of Hueco Mundo, as if a Greek artisan had chiseled him out of granite. His fangs clicked lightly as he stretched his jaw, turning to give Skylar his full attention and speaking in his luxurious bass, all pretense of his previous emotionless nature gone in the wake of all that's happened. "Are you ready?"

"Nah."

Skylar's word, the one word she said, left her mouth as she sealed her power back into the two bracelets on her arm, her hair returning to its length rather than being kept in a mask or a helmet. While she couldn't sense the reiatsu coming from Graven, she could feel the emotions she was being spoonfed by it, and she saw the visuals that his Segunda Etapa was giving off. He had complimented her just before he released, but Skylar simply began to stretch her arms and her neck, the wounds from Graven's attacks healing up slowly as she cracked her knuckles.

"Say I did join you." She stated as she continued stretching, this time touching her toes. "What would it entail. How many people do you actually have under you?" At this point, Skylar placed her hands on her hips and continued speaking. "You're obviously strong. Stronger than me, for sure. I know that I can't beat you. Not yet, anyway. I don't know how many people you have following you, I don't understand the political bullshit you're trying to spew, but I understand power. You said that we, as Arrancars, are a Warrior race. So, call me a Warrior. Call me your Primera. Call me Skylar. I don't care, I'm not a political bullshitter like you clearly are." A light smirk let Graven know she was mostly joking. "What I am, is a fighter. If I join you, it's because you're my path to more power. You train me. You make me stronger. If at any point I feel like you're stalling or you can't make me more powerful, I leave. These are my terms."

Skylar took a few moments to think about everything Graven had said and done since she first encountered him. Regardless of whether or not Graven had begun to speak in return to her speech, she would return to speaking.

"Skylar Krystal. Where's Home?" She said with a small smile, signaling that she was ready to see what his current kingdom looked like, since this one was obviously from a time long, long past, and it wasn't where he currently resided.

Graven's surprise, he was proud to say, only lasted about three seconds before he began to laugh. Reaching to scratch the back of his head, he noticed the slight breeze across his chest and remembered he wasn't wearing anything in this form, even if a large portion of his body was covered in white fur. It felt nice to just relax with all of his power returned, as if he wasn't a primed nuke stuffed inside of a gift box, afraid to sneeze and destroy everything, but...There was an above-average young lady looking at him for answers, and he was pretty much half-naked. Resealing his Zanpakuto into it's normal katana and letting his reiatsu dissipate, he sheathed it at his side and ensured that his P-coat was back on. After all, it was slightly inappropriate of him to continue to be in such a state of undress. Refraining from acting emotionless, he would give Skylar a nearly-predatory smile before answering her questions. "Well, in order, I'd say that it would entail whatever the hell it has to, and every Hollow is under the command of the Espada. Even the ones who live in the farthest reaches of Hueco Mundo have heard rumors, at least. Then again, I always have at least one asshole who comes in and says that I'm not real. After all, the Ghost of the North is just some fairy tale, the Hollow version of Le Morte de Arthur..."

Graven's eyes grew softer, glowing with power even now, and he sighed. It was a long breath out, one that spoke of years of loneliness. "Well, I can definitely agree to your terms. After all, I wouldn't expect anything less. As for home...Skylar, home is where the heart is. Since we Hollows don't have hearts, though, Las Noches is the next best thing. It's the giant dome in the middle of the White Sands. There's a series of palaces and buildings under it, all interconnected for the most part. I can take you there now, if you want. It's a couple of hours walking, so there's time to answer any more questions. Come on."

And with that, Graven smirked and started walking at a leisurely pace. He could definitely use Sonido to get there in under fifteen minutes, but he wanted to see the look on Skylar's face when she realized that a "couple of hours" was really about six. Whoever started that stupid rumor in Las Noches that he didn't have a sense of humor was dead wrong!

Graven was surprised for a moment, but his laugh broke the minor fallacy of tension. He then began to be a bit embarassed that he was basically naked, and re-sealed himself so he was no longer revealing his full power. His smile was creepy, though, as he began to answer her questions and reveal that every Hollow was under his control and knew of his existence; Skylar refrained from interrupting him, reminding him that she was completely unaware of his existence, and that she wasn't under his control. She had only been here five years though, most Hollow were probably here longer, and Graven had probably gotten to most of them, or rumors spread, or whatever; either way, she was an exception. That much, she was sure of.

He agreed to her terms though, and then made a shitty joke about Hollows not having hearts or homes, and said that their home, as Arrancars, was a giant dome in the middle of the bleak white desert known as Los Noches. Then he mentioned that it would take a few hours to get there by walking, to which Skylar shrugged her shoulders and started walking behind him, lacing her fingers behind her head and looking at the dark moonlit sky.

"Here's a question for you, Graven." She started, though she was only passing the time, "Why is it always night-time, here? Why are we, as Hollows, forced to stare at the bleak white deserts and moonlit sky? No wonder we get a bad rep when we're not permitted any beauty. Where are the flowers, where's the sun, where's the beauty in the world?"

Graven frowned lightly as that particular question hit his ears. There were a few ways he could answer, but in the end he decided on the only one he felt was completely honest. "...I'm not sure. Hollows are born from negative emotion, the rage, despair, and emptiness that fills us after we die. Our hearts tear themselves out, leaving nothing but a hole, and form into our masks, hiding our pain from the world. Maybe if Hueco Mundo wasn't so dark, wasn't so depressing...In my opinion, we can find beauty in the moon, in the night sky, and in each other, so long as we're willing to look. Perhaps our world is a reflection of our hatred for ourselves, for what we've become. I don't mind it, though, so long as I have company. The negative emotion that ended up turning me into a Hollow, the one emotion I feel above all others, is loneliness. I was a hunter for my tribe, a warrior, and I had just taken down a buck when I was chased off by wolves. I ended up miles away from home, stuck in a blizzard while bleeding heavily from my wounds. I'd had worse, but with no shelter, exposed to the elements? I died alone, and when I woke up to find myself with a broken chain coming from my chest I didn't know what to do, so I went home. It was long enough ago that the World of the Living had a pitiful amount of ambient reishi, so only the strongest souls were able to actually become ghosts. When no one could see me...It really drove the point home. I was alone, then and for thousands of years after that. Anyone I've gotten close to I've either outlived or has left me at some point in time. Being the strongest only means that you get to watch everyone around you die. It's meaningless..."

A single line of tears ran down Graven's cheek as the faces of the few people he could ever call friends ran through his mind, the most recent of which was Kaitou. Loneliness was a feeling he was all too used to feeling, but that never made it any easier...Shaking his head, Graven stopped abruptly, turning around to face the young woman slightly behind him with a small smile. The only sign he'd been crying was the faint glimmer of wet skin under the black estigma around his eyes. "Well, I just remembered something that I think I should mention. All Espada have their number tattooed onto their body as a sign of rank. I can do yours now, actually. Where do you want it?"
